Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. Expands Meals on Wheels Service to Belmont

October 1, 2008 – Menlo Park, CA

Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) is pleased to announce its home delivered meal program will begin serving Belmont, CA effective October 1, 2008. This service will encompass the federally funded program of Meals on Wheels (qualified homebound individuals over 60 years of age) and the San Mateo County funded program of Supplemental Home Delivered Meals (eligible homebound under 60 years of age). PVI currently operates these programs in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Redwood City, and San Carlos. PVI is pleased to partner with San Mateo Health Department Aging and Adult Services in making this opportunity available for the homebound in our community.

About Peninsula Volunteers, Inc.
Peninsula Volunteers is a pioneer in senior services and was the first volunteer organization to receive a HUD grant to develop and build affordable senior housing in the United States. For more than 60 years, Peninsula Volunteers has created high quality and nurturing programs for the aging in South San Mateo County, through programs, support and guidance for the aging in the community to allow them to pursue a long and useful life. Each year Peninsula Volunteers provides over $4 million in services, including 150,000 hot meals to seniors and the homebound, and touches over 4,500 households through its programs: Meals on Wheels, Rosener House Adult Day Services, Little House, The Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center, and, through Peninsula Volunteers Properties, Inc., provides 82% of the affordable housing for seniors in Menlo Park at Crane Place and Partridge/Kennedy Apartments.
