Allen Foundation Funds PV Meals on Wheels for Nutrition Education
May, 2011

Menlo Park, CA (May, 2011) - Peninsula Volunteers is one of 19 nationwide organizations to receive a grant in May, 2011 from the Allen Foundation of Midland, Michigan. This $10,000 grant will be used for nutrition education for participants of Meals on Wheels and the Peninsula Volunteers contracted congregate nutrition sites during the coming year. The Allen Foundation was established in 1975 by agricultural chemist William Webster Allen. The Foundation recognizes the connections between diet and health, and it makes grants to projects that benefit human nutrition in the areas of education, training, and research. Marilyn Baker-Venturini, M.S. in Nutrition, Director of Meals on Wheels, will plan and execute educational presentations and materials for the approximately 800 individuals who are Meals on Wheels clients and participants at the contracting local senior centers. www.allenfoundation.org/bulletin/grants
