Peninsula Volunteers Meals on Wheels Program Awarded $100,000 from Sequoia Healthcare District for Safety Net Services
January, 2011
Menlo Park, CA (April, 2011) - Peninsula Volunteers Meals on Wheels received a second year grant of $100,000 from the Sequoia Healthcare District to help provide hot, nutritious home delivered meals to homebound seniors and people with disabilities. Peninsula Volunteers Meals on Wheels serves south San Mateo County, Belmont through East Palo Alto, most of which is the Sequoia Healthcare District. Meals on Wheels is a safety-net service, designed to keep older adults well nourished, living in their own homes as long as possible, and connected to other community services as needed. This goal is consistent with the mission of the Sequoia Healthcare District's Community Grants Program to support programs that improve the health and quality of life of district residents. Peninsula Volunteers has been very privileged to receive continuing support since 2001 from Sequoia Healthcare District, originally for our Rosener House program.
