Peter Olson previously served as the Director of Little House, The Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center, since 2010.  He has over 25 years of experience working in the not-for-profit sector, specifically older adults, individuals with special needs, and children. Peter's professional experience includes the Director, Public Affairs and Communications for Easter Seals Bay Area and the Health and Wellness Director at the Easter Seals Timpany Center in San Jose.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from San Jose State University.

Marilyn Baker-Venturini has served as the Director of Meals on Wheels, since 2010.  Marilyn has over 30 years of experience working with senior service organizations and home health and hospice agencies in San Mateo, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties.  While working on her master’s degree, she completed research on the relationship between nutrition and falls; her research, “Nutrition Status as a Risk Factor for Falls Among Older Adults”,  was published in The International Journal of Aging in Society, 2011. Marilyn is currently a member of San Mateo County’s New Beginnings Coalition (NBC) and NBC Steering Committee.  The NBC is a broad-based group of older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, and service providers that coordinates the development of the countywide strategic plan for services for older adults and adults with disabilities.  The Steering Committee develops and manages the area plan to accomplish the goals and objectives.  In addition, she is a member of the San Mateo County Fall Prevention Task Force and the California Senior Nutrition Network.

She holds dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Sonoma State University, and a Master’s degree in Nutrition with study emphasis in Geriatric Nutrition, and a Certificate in Social Gerontology from San Jose State University.

Barbara Kalt joined Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. in 1981. She has been in the field of adult day services for over 30 years and Director of Rosener House for 20 years. She has been instrumental in the process of planning and building a new facility and expanding services for older adults with cognitive and physical disabilities in the community.  Barbara's responsibilities include supervising a staff of 20 at Rosener House which provides therapeutic activities and support services for over 100 program participants, grant writing for Peninsula Volunteers Inc. programs, marketing, planning and budgeting.

Barbara has served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Adult Day Services, is currently on the Executive Committee of the San Mateo County Paratransit Coordinating Council, advocating for transportation for older adults and individuals with disabilities.  She has been co-chair of the San Mateo Co. Aging and Adult Services New Beginning Coalition and worked on various committees of Aging and Adult Services.  

She attended the University of Wisconsin and received a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from NoteDame de Namur University.

Joe Christian has managed PVI’s accounting and finance activities as Controller since 2004.  He is responsible for insuring PVI’s financial compliance with government and private contacts. Earlier in his career, Joe worked in the business and financial departments of hospitals and other healthcare providers for over 15 years.  He understands the particular challenges faced by small organizations, having grown up around a family business.  “A problem well stated is half solved” was that business’ mantra, an approach he continues to use at PVI.  Joe also directs the Facilities department and is the first contact for most technology issues. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from UC Davis and an MBA from Temple University

Tammy Holloway, Food Services Director

Tammy Holloway moved to Redwood City from Louisiana. She studied at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco and proceeded to work in a fast-upscale environment assuring client delight at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Passionate about a child’s healthy eating habit, Tammy took on the position as Ravenswood City School District Nutrition Site Supervisor. She loves to walk her dog, enjoys cooking for family and friends.

Chris joined PVI in 2015, and is responsible for building and sustaining financial support from a large portfolio of donors through relationship building, grant writing, and innovative digital and direct mail marketing. He is also responsible for PVI's community volunteer program, as well as a number of strategic initiatives that reach new audiences to support PVI’s work and mission. Prior to joining PVI, Chris was Senior Manager, Development at InnVision Shelter Network, where he oversaw a 25% increase in community giving and spearheaded the development and implementation of a new Access to Higher Education program for the agency's homeless clients. Chris has a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Mathematics, both from the University of Southern California. Chris has a passion for empowering young people, and serves as Board President for HOBY California, and Board Treasurer for DGE Youth Leadership. 

     

Paige Sweetin, Program Manager, Little House

  Originally from Colorado, Paige attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied history and women/gender studies. During this time she interned with The Circle of Care Project, where she discovered a passion for working with aging adults and the nonprofit sector. She is experienced in office management, accounting, customer service, volunteer coordination and event planning.

 
     

Karel Sykora, Facilities Manager

Karel Sykora has served as the Facilities Manager since 2005. Prior to PVI, Karel has 30+ years of experience in engineering and management, employed with large utility companies such as PG&E, and NRG Energy, Inc., His tenure includes positions, progressing from Director of Engineering to CEO/Executive Director of Operations. at the Saline Water Conversion Corporation. (SWCC).

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, from Charles University, Prague, and a Master’s degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, from Charles University Prague.  His passion is flying and he holds a Commercial pilot license.
