Position Title:

LITTLE HOUSE PROGRAM MANAGER –
Peninsula Volunteers Little House 
The Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center

Agency:

Peninsula Volunteers, Inc., is a private, nonprofit, voluntary tax-exempt agency supported by fundraising events, fees, foundation and public grants, individuals, and businesses. It develops and administers programs for the aging population of the mid-Peninsula region.      

Requirements:
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with the aging population and reach out to persons of all ages.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of professionals and other agencies in the community as well as with staff and volunteers of Peninsula Volunteers.
  • Strong program planning and development skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and follow through on details.           
  • Valid California Driver’s License, maintain a good safety record (verified by a DMV printout), a reliable vehicle, proof of liability insurance with a minimum of 100,000/300,000 coverage and to show proof of your good driving record annually.
  • California Dept. of Justice and Social Services criminal record clearance required prior to employment
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and grow services and program offerings for the mental, physical, intellectual, and creative growth of the Little House Members and the community.
  • Continue to build Little House’s reputation as a leader in programming for adult activity centers throughout the country.
  • Make initial contact and negotiate with teachers, artists, authors, etc. for setting up workshops, classes, lectures. 
  • Work with the Activity Coordinator in the arrangements of classrooms, procurement of equipment and support services for instructors, guest speakers, and other service providers.
  • Monitor revenue and expenditures and take appropriate actions to manage income and costs of programs and events.
  • Establish and assess procedures and tools to effectively monitor and run the Little House programs.
  • Write copy for the monthly newsletter.  Coordinate with the Executive Director for effective media coverage.
  • Prepare backup material to present in case of cancellation by speakers.
  • Oversee the Evening Program.
  • Responsible for the organization and implementation of Special Events at Little House.
  • Oversee and negotiate art displays for the Art Gallery.
  • Work with local agencies and service providers to plan and implement co-sponsored services and programming.
  • Work in conjunction with other team members to coordinate marketing and community awareness campaigns and assist with internal and external community relations.
  • Prepare grants as necessary in cooperation with the Little House Director.
  • Be prepared to represent Little House locally, at statewide and national levels and do presentations on Little House with the Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training:
  • Advanced degree in education, recreation or other human services area or bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience. 
  • Knowledge of local resources and program planning experience with aging population preferred
  • Proficiency required using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;   PowerPoint knowledge helpful.

 

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit at desk using computer keyboard, viewing monitor and using telephone.
  • Able to do repetitive keyboard motion.
  • Ability to move around the large Little House facility
  • Ability to attend meetings and events off-site
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

 

Accountabilty: Reports directly to the Little House Director
Hours:

35 hour workweek minimum.  Some evening hours are required each week and occasional weekend hours for special events.

Salary:

Depending on experience.  Exempt position.
