Founded in 1947, Peninsula Volunteers, Inc is a community-based, non-profit organization that develops and administers programs and services for the aging population of the mid-peninsula region, providing over 1,000 hot meals every week to the homebound through Meals on Wheels, and touching over 4500 households through our programs at Little House, The Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center and Rosener House Adult Day Services. With a budget of $3.6M, PVI has led the nation in developing programs to support the welfare of the older adult members of our community. It is supported by private philanthropy, public grants and fees. |
| Job Summary: |
Responsible for the creation, implementation and on-going management of a community volunteer program for Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. |
| Requirements: |

Ability to develop strong rapport with volunteers and supervise effectively.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with the aging population and reach out to persons of all ages.
- Work collaboratively with a wide variety of professionals and other agencies in the community.
- Excellent public speaking, oral and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively prioritize and follow through on details.
- Team player.
- Valid California Driver’s License (verified at hire and yearly thereafter), a reliable vehicle, proof of liability insurance with a minimum of 100,000/300,000.
- California Dept. of Justice and Social Services criminal record clearance required prior to employment.

| Duties and Responsibilities: |

Responsible for management of the community volunteer program to support the Little House, Meals-on-Wheels and Rosener House programs:
- Ensure an effective infrastructure is in place such as application forms, volunteer handbook, volunteer training, marketing materials.
- develop strategies for attracting suitable volunteers for our extensive variety of programs.
- implement a continuing program for recruiting, screening, training and retaining volunteers
- develop volunteer appreciation activities
- implement procedures to document and track volunteer statistical information.
- Work closely with the PVI program directors and managers to learn and keep up-to-date on PVI programs in order to support them effectively through volunteer placements.
- Supervise and support the volunteers at Little House Adult Activity Center
- Work in conjunction with other team members to coordinate community awareness campaigns for volunteer opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations in order to support the activities of Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. through volunteer opportunities. Be a spokesperson for the organization.
- Write copy for the monthly newsletter.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director for effective media coverage.
- Other duties as assigned.

| Education and Training: |

Experience managing volunteer programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of local resources
- Proficiency required using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint and database knowledge helpful.

| Physical Requirements: |

Able to sit at desk for moderate to extensive amount of time using computer keyboard, viewing monitor and using telephone.
- Able to do moderate repetitive keyboard motion.
- Ability to move around the large Little House and Rosener House facilities.
- Ability to attend off-site meetings and events
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

| Accountabilty: |
Reports to the Executive Director with expectation of a close collaboration with the PVI program directors and managers. |
| Hours: |
35 hour workweek minimum. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
|
