Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. Receives Major Gift
November 17, 2006 - Menlo Park, CA
Carmen Christensen has generously given one million dollars to seed the new endowment fund of Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. helping to ensure the ongoing success of the many senior programs supported by the organization and its members. This is the first endowment set up to underwrite the full continuum of program services offered by Peninsula Volunteers.
Ms. Christensen was the 2006 Peninsula Volunteers humanitarian award honoree and as such recently was recognized for her many ongoing contributions to Peninsula Volunteers and the community-at-large at Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. annual gala named "An Evening with the Stars" held on October 27, 2006 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

Carmen Christensen has been a member of Peninsula Volunteers since 1951. For over fifty years she has been committed to the mission of Peninsula Volunteers. As a generous benefactor, she has been especially dedicated to the programs of Little House and Rosener House.

Peninsula Volunteers provides programs, support and guidance for seniors in the community to allow them to pursue a long and useful life. Each year Peninsula Volunteers provides over $4 million in services, including 100,000 hot meals to seniors and the homebound, and touches over 4500 households through its programs: Meals on Wheels, Rosener House Adult Day Services, Little House, The Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center, and, through Peninsula Volunteers Properties, Inc., provides 82% of the low cost housing for seniors in Menlo Park at Crane Place and Partridge/Kennedy Apartments.
