The Dementia Services Program at Peninsula Volunteers Rosener House is dedicated to supporting our participants living with Alzheimer's disease. The program provides an opportunity to maximize interaction and involvement, and to belong to a community of wonderful, supportive people who are dedicated to making the best of each day.

Activities in the Dementia Services Program augment the general activity program and provide alternative activities that are adapted to meet the individual needs of participants. We strive to enable participants to engage in meaningful activities, allowing them to express on multiple levels the wonderful and vibrant people they still are.

Through close staff contact and hands-on interactions, participants are able to be successful even if they have difficulty participating in larger groups. We provide a safe environment with a staff to participant ratio of 1 to 4. Our small group activities include:

• Socialization
• Music Therapy
• Sensory Stimulation
• Creative Arts
• Pet Therapy

With a board-certified music therapist on staff, our program has also integrated an exciting and innovative approach to Alzheimer's care into our services. Music Therapy groups at Rosener House occur regularly and act as a vehicle for expression and connection with others. These groups emphasize interactive music making and draw upon intact abilities and interests to build a rapport and facilitate communication with others.
