Rosener House Transportation
Assistance arranging transportation for San Mateo County residents is provided by Rosener House via Sam Trans RediWheels paratransit service.
To be eligible for paratransit service, individuals must have a disability that prevents them from using the regular, fixed-route bus service. Once this elgibility is established, Rosener House participants are assigned a bus route.
The RediWheels buses are equipped with lifts for use with wheelchairs, walkers, and for people who can not climb the stairs. The bus provides service from the person's house to Rosener House and back again. There are generally 4-8 other Rosener House participants on the bus as well. Most participants and families see RediWheels as an extension of our services, and we work closely with the RediWheels staff to meet the needs of our participants.
In Santa Clara County, families must make arrangements for paratransit service with Outreach Paratransit. Rosener House is in the service area of both paratransit services.
Generally, paratransit service can be provided from the City of San Mateo through Sunnyvale, as passengers should not be on the bus for more than one hour each way.
Families can provide their own transportation if the schedules or service area do not fit their needs.
