Join PVI for the 31st Annual Authors Salon! The event will be held at PVI’s Little House on Sunday, April 24th, 2022. Authors Salon will begin at 10:30 am for book signing and sales and lunch will be served at 12:00 pm followed by Fund Our Future. This year’s event will feature an exciting panel of authors, the opportunity to purchase their work, a sit-down lunch, and more! Featured authors are Jasmin Darznik, Alka Joshi, and Dave Iverson. The amazing Jan Yanehiro will return as our moderator. The proceeds of this event are benefiting PVI’s Meals on Wheels and Adult Day Services at Rosener House. Individual tickets are $150 and sponsorship tables with exclusive amenities are available and begin at $2,500.

Emmy-Award winning Broadcast Journalist Yanehiro received the Eleanor Roosevelt humanitarian award from the United Nations of San Francisco and was inducted into the Academy of Television and Radio Hall of Fame in New York. She is the Co-Chair of Diversity and Inclusion at the Academy of Art University. She co-authored This is Not the Life I Ordered with the Hon. Jackie Speier, Michaelene Cristini Risley, and Deborah Collins Stephens.
Jasmin Darznik
Author
Jasmin Darznik is the New York Times bestselling author of The Bohemians. Her debut novel, Song of a Captive Bird, was a New York Times Book Review “Editors’ Choice” book and a Los Angeles Times bestseller. Darznik is also the author of The Good Daughter: A Memoir of My Mother’s Hidden Life. Her books have been published in seventeen countries and her essays have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times, among others. Darznik holds a Ph.D. in English from Princeton University is a professor of English and creative writing at California College of the Arts.
Alka Joshi
Author
Alka Joshi was born in India and raised in the U.S. since the age of nine. She has a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from California College of Arts. At age 62, Joshi published her debut novel, The Henna Artist, which immediately became a New York Times bestseller, a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick, was Longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize and is being developed into an episodic series by Miramax TV. The sequel, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur, released June 2021, and will be followed by the third book in the trilogy in 2023.
Dave Iverson
Author
Dave Iverson is a writer, documentary film producer/director and retired broadcast journalist. Winter Stars: An Elderly Mother, an Aging Son and Life’s Final Journey is Dave’s first book. It tells the story of the 10 year caregiving odyssey he shared with his mom until her passing at the age of 105.
Dave has produced and reported more than 20 documentary specials for PBS, including the Frontline film, “My Father, My Brother and Me” which explored his family’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and Capturing Grace, which tells the story of what happened when a group of people with Parkinson’s disease joined forces with a legendary New York City dance company. He was a radio and television reporter and host for nearly 40 years, first at Wisconsin Public Broadcasting and then at San Francisco’s NPR affiliate KQED. His awards include a national Emmy, four regional Emmys and numerous film festival citations. He is a founding member of the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Patient Council and still dreams of running in one more New York City Marathon.
Dave and his wife Lynn divide their time between Oakland, California and Boothbay Harbor, Maine. They delight in spending time with their families and grandchildren.
