Volunteers are the heart of our organization. They support all our programs from our headquarters in Menlo Park and enhance our services in the mid-Peninsula. Whether it’s Meals on Wheels, Rosener House or Little House, Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. has many ways for you to get involved!
Due to the heartwarming and overwhelming response to our needs, we’ve currently reached our capacity for volunteers. If you would like to be placed on our waiting list as the situation evolves over the coming weeks, please fill out our quick and easy online application at www.penvol.org/volunteer.
Right now, the best great way to make a huge impact is to donate whatever amount you feel you can at www.penvol.org/donate/. In addition, if you’re on social media, please share this link with your community: https://bit.ly/2Wsg0zM. When you specify Meals on Wheels in the section that asks for it, you will be helping us purchase food and supplies now to continue preparing meals to feed our seniors in need. We thank you with full and grateful hearts.
Other ways to help include the following:
1) Donations of Hand Sanitizer and Face Masks
2) Donations of toilet paper and household supplies such as dish soap. TP must be individually wrapped or in bags.
3) Individually wrapped, non-perishable food items (no cans or jars): nuts, dried fruit, individual packets of oatmeal, single-serving foil packs of tuna, crackers, peanut butter, packets of apple sauce or fruit.
4) Notes to MOW recipients. Anonymous, upbeat, inspirational notes handwritten (not cursive) in large print. Use glue sticks for gluing and not any other type of adhesive. Do not use glitter, macaroni, or other types of decoration that can easily come off. Do not sign the cards, not even with your school or company name. Since our drivers will be delivering the note, it confuses many of our senior clients. Please avoid irony, slang, puns or jokey cards as it will also confuse our clients. Think of kind, sincere, and joyful messages and images. Please do not use any language that pertains to any religion or politics. These cards may be mailed or dropped off to me at the address below. Feel free to share this opportunity with others.
Please take good care of yourselves in these unsettling times. While much is uncertain, what we do know is that we can take care of each other by pulling together as a community right now. You are partnering with us to do just that. Thank you!
Donations are accepted Monday-Friday 8am-4pm PM at Little House
